Pricing and Insurance
Usually one day car rental in Portugal is for a 24 hour period which may be extended for a maximum of 2 hours in the event of unforeseen circumstances through no fault of the customer. Exceeding the rental period will result in a charge for an extra day. We do not ask for proof that that when the hire period is exceeded for up to two hours that the customer is not at fault trusting our customers in this regard.
Prepayment when ordering a car is not required (except. Spec. Groups F and H).
In Portugal payment is made in full for the entire term of the rental at the time of signing the contract and receiving the vehicle. Often rental companies offer an initial low price point to attract customers but in the end the final cost of renting may increase by twice the initial amount due to additional payments for insurance etc. Our price is fully costed. Full coverage insurance our customers do not pay anything in the case of an accident, but remember that it does not cover the loss of things left in the car, car boot, loss or damage of the car keys and the removable radio panel.
In the event of an accident, it is imperative that the Police are called on 112 regardless of fault. Remember that any insurance is valid only if there is a complete report about the accident provided by the Police. At the same time, if it is proven that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs, then the insurance is invalid and full responsibility for any losses will fall on the person named on the rental documents.
In the event of a breakdown the renter must contact the car rental company at the telephone number listed on the rental agreement. Please have all necessary information to hand (car registration number and contract number, your exact location, what you think has caused the breakdown) - this will save both time and money.
Choosing a child seat, keep in mind that the BABY SEAT is for children aged to 2.5-3 years. Children from 3 to 7 years are recommended to use the BOOSTER SEAT. In Portugal, it is a legal requirement that children use either a Baby or Booster seat dependent on age.
Our best advice is to rent a car in Portugal in advance. This will give you the opportunity to get exactly the car you want. Remember the Algarve has a massive influx of visitors in the summer so if you have left booking your rental car to the last moment you might end up paying three times as much or with no car at all.
